David Simon cared deeply about the health of the planet and all its inhabitants. Through his work as a doctor and as a teacher of Ayurveda, meditation, and yoga, he helped people throughout the world experience healing and transformation. Many were so enthusiastic about the tools and timeless teachings they learned at the Chopra Center that they wanted to share this knowledge with their own communities. This is how the Chopra Center’s Teachers Path began.
David and Deepak developed a training program and curriculum for each of the Chopra Center’s three core teachings: Primordial Sound Meditation, Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga, and Perfect Health: Ayurvedic Lifestyle. Today, there are more than 1,200 Chopra Center certified instructors in our global community, and the number continues to grow. The Teachers Path is now offered through Chopra Center University, with davidji serving as Dean, and Teresa Long as Director.
Those who decide to become certified teachers come from an enormous variety of backgrounds, ranging from doctors, school teachers, and holistic healers to artists, business executives, and engineers. Some have discovered their dharma (purpose) in teaching, communicating ideas, and helping others move from constriction to expansion. Others join the Teachers Path to deepen their own practice and spiritual unfolding.
We have many inspiring stories of transformation and healing from our community of certified instructors, including this uplifting video from Peter Platel, who has achieved the distinction of Vedic Master, certified as an instructor in all three areas of the Teachers Path.
