Meditation Q&A
Q: Sometimes when I meditate I feel sensations in my body – I experience warm, tingly feelings. Other times, I feel a sense of lightness in my temples or right between my eyes. Is this normal?
A: Experiencing sensations in your body during meditation is a common phenomenon. Feelings or sensations are an expression of stress or tension being released from your body. When those sensations correspond with the place between your eyes (known as your third eye or Ajana chakra), it is often a sign that the energy associated with your meditation practice is moving and opening you up. When you notice that your attention has drifted to this sensation – regardless of where it is in your body – treat it as you would any other thought and gently return your attention to your mantra.
