Recently she moved from Northern California to Carlsbad – the sweet spot of the universe – to share her expertise on body image, self-empowerment, and authentic wellbeing. She has just written a new book, Love Your Body, Love Your Life, a guide to overcoming a negative body image and discovering the beauty within.
Sarah Maria has trained with many well-known teachers and physicians, including Deepak Chopra, Dr. David Simon, Wayne Dyer, and Jack Canfield, among others. She completed a law degree at Stanford University and a master's degree in international affairs at Columbia University.
How many Chopra Center events have you attended and what are your favorites? That question requires a list! I’ve attended every program the Chopra Center offers, and a couple of them twice:
I love all of the events, but if I had to choose just one, right now it would be Secrets of Enlightenment. My greatest passion at the moment is exploring the concept of enlightenment. Through my exposure to Deepak, David, and the Chopra Center, I learned about the great sage Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. His book I Am That and his wisdom have profoundly influenced my ongoing spiritual evolution.
That said, I wouldn’t be able to do everything that I’m currently doing without the profound physical, emotional, and spiritual healing I’ve experienced by attending all of the various Chopra Center programs.
What inspires you to teach? My absolute knowing that people can transform their lives on every level and experience more peace, more joy, more love, and more abundance than they even imagine is possible.
When we are in the midst of suffering, the pain can seem huge. It can seem so all-encompassing, in fact, as to appear insurmountable. Whether it is physical, emotional, spiritual, or all of the above, our pain and suffering can seem like reality. In truth, however, there is nothing – and I mean nothing – more powerful than the peace, joy, and bliss of your true being. As you discover this, you can transform your life on every level.
These are not simply nice ideas. I know this to be true from my own experience. Before I became involved with the Chopra Center, I lived in silent and not-so-silent anguish. I was plagued by emotional trauma, physical illness, and spiritual discontent. I struggled with depression, loneliness, apathy, insecurity, and grief. I was miserable, and that is putting it mildly.
Since I’ve immersed myself in the wisdom and teachings of the Chopra Center, my life has been utterly transformed in every way. In the two and a half years since I attended my first event, I’ve started my own business, written a book that is being published by a major national publishing house, and have an incredible network of friends and colleagues who are passionate about living successful lives and making a difference in the world. I now have phenomenal physical health, I enjoy a peaceful and beautiful emotional life, and I experience ongoing spiritual insight and transformation.
Perhaps the most profound blessing is that I enjoy more love in my life than I ever imagined was possible. I continue to discover love, not only as an emotion, but as the very fabric of existence. For me, this love is the very reason and meaning of life. It is this love, and its unshakeable power, that I wish to share with others, so that they, too, may love their body, love their life, and live their dreams. This is why I teach.

Recently 31 individuals from countries as far flung as Syria, Scotland, Ecuador, and Australia converged in the sweet spot of the universe to complete their final step in becoming certified Chopra Center instructors.
Moms, dads, CEOs, yogis, physicians, entrepreneurs, artists, and others from many walks of life took the next step in their evolution as they immersed themselves in the timeless teachings of ayurveda. They were given extensive training in public speaking, presentation skills, and the incredible mind-body healing wisdom that merges modern Western science with the healing arts of the East. They are now experts in teaching themselves and others the most nourishing daily routine and other practical tools for balance, natural stress relief, physical health, and emotional freedom.
