Featured Teacher
Camille Carrión

For anyone who has ever hesitated to try something new or thought, “I’m too old to start a new career or change direction,”  Camille Carrión’s story is a beautiful example of how we can continue to expand and tap into deeper layers of our own infinite possibilities.

Since turning 60 three years ago, Camille has become a certified instructor of Primordial Sound Meditation and Perfect Health – and she is currently studying to complete her teacher certification in the Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga.

“The year I turned 60, I was in a deep funk, thinking that the best part of my life was over. Then I attended SynchroDestiny in Massachusetts and it opened my eyes to all the possibilities and opportunities still before me,” said Camille.

“For my birthday I decided to attend the Perfect Health program as a gift to myself. I learned Primordial Sound Meditation and – through the Panchakarma cleansing process – let go of all the physical and emotional toxins in my body. It was the beginning of a new life that never ceases to amaze and delight me.”

Before embarking on the Teacher’s Path at Chopra Center University, Camille became well known as an actress and TV producer in Puerto Rico. She also started a radio talk show where she continues to host a weekly meditation program.

How many Chopra Center programs have you attended?
Quite a few! I feel that I have a second home at the Center and I am grateful for the way my life has been transformed as a result of everything I’ve learned and experienced at each of the programs I’ve attended.
Seduction of Spirit (two times)
Seduction of Silence
Journey into Healing
Wisdom of Healing
Perfect Health (two times)
Soul of Healing

What was your favorite event?
Seduction of Silence last November in Carlsbad. First of all, I was able to share it with my daughter, and that just made it extra special. Second, the experience of going into silence helped me achieve a deeper meditation, and the sutras and exercises that Deepak and David taught the “silent group” allowed me to connect with my subtle body and experience things from a different perspective. As if that weren’t enough, as always I found that the caliber of people you connect with at the Center’s programs creates lifelong friendships.

What inspires you to teach?
I actually never imagined that I would enjoy teaching. I learned to teach meditation in order to better understand the incredible changes that had started to occur in my life from the moment I started to meditate. But once I had the information, I felt the incredible need to share this knowledge with others. I realized that in my hands I had the ability to help others the same way I had been helped.

I am amazed by the joy I get out of teaching meditation. The feedback I get from my students gives me so much happiness and such a sense of achievement! The funny thing is that once I just let myself “flow with the Universe” and all of the possibilities it opened for me, I found myself wanting to learn more and more. So I became a Perfect Health teacher, telling myself that this would be my last certification for sure . . . I am 63 and did not visualize myself teaching yoga. Well . . . once again the Universe conspired in my favor! I am now on the path to becoming a yoga instructor and that will make me a Vedic Master.

My teaching has become my life and I love being able to help people with what I have learned. Every month I organize a “Group Meditation at the Botanical Gardens” where everyone can go, even if they haven’t learned how to meditate. This has become an event that everyone waits for and loves, and there have been up to 75 people attending at one time.
