We are all born as infinitely creative beings. As children we tend to think of the future as a clean sheet of paper upon which we can write our own stories. The possibilities seem endless, and we are energized by the promise of discovery and the sheer pleasure of living immersed in so much potential. But as we grow up, become adults, and are educated about our “limitations,” many of us unfortunately adapt an extremely constricted view about what is possible.
There is a way to regain the soaring joy of unlimited potential. All that is required is an understanding of the true nature of reality – a willingness to recognize the interrelatedness and inseparability of all things. You are an inseparable part of the field of pure consciousness that gives rise to everything in the physical universe.
Even if you don’t see yourself as creative, your very existence is evidence of your innate creativity. In every moment you are co-creating your reality through your thoughts, your intentions, your words, and your actions. You have unlimited creative potential because your essential nature is pure consciousness. This is the Law of Pure Potentiality.
How can you apply the Law of Pure Potentiality, the field of all possibilities, in your life? If you want to make full use of the creativity that is inherent in pure consciousness, then you have to access it. Here are a few of the most powerful practices for diving into the field of pure potential:
Meditate. Spending time each day in meditation takes you beyond the mind’s conditioned thought patterns into an expanded state of pure consciousness. This is the field of infinite possibilities. Ideally, meditate thirty minutes in the morning, and thirty minutes in the evening. Learn more about meditation here.
Practice silence. Experiencing silence means withdrawing from the activity of speech in all its forms, including watching TV, surfing the internet, listening to the radio, and reading. If you never allow yourself the opportunity to experience silence, this increases the turbulence in your mind’s internal dialogue. You can begin by setting aside a few hours for silence, then build up to a day and even a week.
Spend time in nature. Immersing yourself in nature gives you a direct experience of the incredible intelligence of the universe. You witness the seamless flow of all the elements and forces of life.
